London Fringe Effort In Search for Talent

Running since 1947, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is an arts institution that attracts thousands of fun loving visitors each year. Though able to boast being one of the major art capitals of the world however, it has taken London a while to catch on to the same idea, but in 2010 an audacious bid lead by spokesman Greg Tallent is set to offer London residents and interested visitors to the capital a chance to enjoy fringe theatre and discover emerging talent the city has to offer.

Though London may not have the convenience of locality Edinburgh does to hold a festival of this magnitude, there is ferocious ambition and lots of hard work going into ensuring the London Fringe Festival is a success. To date 80 venues are signed up and there is vigorous campaigning to sign up additional venues together with securing funding and sponsorship. What this all means for the comedy punter and theatre lovers is the promise of innovative and exciting fringe theatre at affordable prices.

Perhaps the timing is ill-mannered and potentially ill-fated, but the London fringe festival is due to coincide with the more celebrated Edinburgh Fringe in August. What sets the plans for London apart however is the shows won’t just be concentrating on comedy, but will feature a broad range of genres that address cultural, moral and contemporary social issues. Most importantly they promise to be entertaining.

Fringe festival campaigners are currently looking for artist submissions by writers, producers, musicians, photographers and artists, all of whom are invited to get involved in the project to help make it a success. As an extra incentive awards covering nine media categories are up for grabs.
