Obesity in men

Good news is there that men have overtaken women in obesity numbers with 68 percent men being obese to 55 percent of women in the same category. This may be indicative of the fact that the relaxed and nice lifestyle that men are leading in their plush villas is the reason for this gluttonous build up of body weight. So, it could be the six pack beer that is attributable to this victory in the obesity race by men. But whatever be the case, the fact is that with increasing weight, the risk of associated ailments also increases.
Some man falling in this category had therefore mentioned ‘I am in shape, after all round is a shape!”. This shape of the man is however a dangerous sign as the abdominal fat that gets this un-athletic shape upon a man results in more health hazards for the man than the fat accumulation on hips and thighs.
There is however the good part of this manly bad fat, in that with minimal exercise this mid mounted fat can easily be shed. But first to measure if one has built this fat the easiest means is to measure the girth with a tape and see that it is below the 102 cm or 40 inches mark. Anything more needs immediate attention for reduction. There is also the new factor that has come in called BMI or Body Mass Index which is the body weight divided by the square of one’s height. A BMI factor of less than 25 is what a man should strive to maintain.
In case the measurement has been taken after one has crossed both tape and scale limits mentioned above, then one must resort to a strict routine of limitations where first and foremost alcohol needs to be limited. Food intake is next to be dealt with and kept to modest helpings. In addition, fatty food is to be limited even in this limited intake.
Not just by limiting food intake should one expect weight loss benefits to be accrued. Exercise is also necessary and one must be regular at it, even if in shape and size.
